About Tehachapi AOR

The Tehachapi Area Association of REALTORS® advocates, protects and promotes the standards of REALTORS® for the benefit of the communities they serve.

The Tehachapi Area Association of REALTORS®…. unites its members by promoting and inspiring the highest standards.

The Tehachapi Area Association of REALTORS® received it’s Charter from the National Association of REALTORS® in November of 1986 and from the California Association of REALTORS® in January of 1987. Our Charter name was The Greater Tehachapi Board of REALTORS® and later changed to our current name: The Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors®

Several of the original members who helped establish our Board were Fred Trower, Larry McClain, Iva Smith who owned Four Seasons Realty, Francine Den Besten, Suzi McReynolds, Suzie Nashino, Connie Fourmet and Gerald Vukich.

The first location of the TAAR office was on West ‘J’ Street and moved to Old Town in 1989 and moved to Tehachapi Blvd. in 1993, and then to our current location at 803 Tucker at the corner of Tucker and 202, on December 2, 2010.  The first TAAR President was Larry McClain in 1987 followed by Allen Rice in 1988.

In the beginning days, the Multiple Listing (MLS) data information for all listings was printed out and kept in a simple binder. In 1989, the Board issued a computer-generated book. Suzi McReynolds, and a couple of other dedicated people, spent many long hours entering all the information into the original equipment. In 1992, the Board went with Yardi software and it’s first published books. In the late 1990’s we introduced Voyager database software with an online system, which evolved into 'Galaxy' and then 'Risco', which became 'Paragon', and on January 25, 2011 we went to Rapattoni which is our present fully online MLS system.

In January 1, 2009, the Association and the MLS split into two corporations.  The Tehachapi Area Association of REALTORS® became a nonprofit corporation (501-c6) and the Tehachapi MLS became a separate corporation.
